IRG-655-1 On-Boarding Guide

IRG-655-1 On-Boarding Guide

Introduction

This guide is designed to assist with the IRG-655-1 on-boarding process.

Assumptions

  • Device Model: IRG-655-1
  • Facility Requirements: Available Internet access service with DHCP WAN addressing (see below for Static WAN IP)
  • Existing Big Network Account
  • vSIM Data Plan, if required. Please reach out to your Big Network contact for more information.

Deployment Planning

  • Placement: Place the IRG-655-1 in a secure location with sufficient ventilation. The IRG-655-1 uses a passive heatsink at the bottom of the unit, so it is suggested to use the included rubber feet packaged with the unit to provide airflow from all directions.
  • Connections: The IRG-655-1 requires the following connections:
    • AC Power via 12VDC 5A Locking Barrel Connector
    • One or more WAN Internet connection(s)
      • Connect to Combo SFP/RJ-45 #1 or SFP+ #3
    • One or more local LAN connection(s)
      • Connect to Combo SFP/RJ-45 #2, SFP+ #4, or 2.5G RJ-45 #5-#8

Onboarding Process

Connect Computer to LAN Port

Begin the Edge Pro on-boarding process by connecting a computer to any LAN Port.
  1. IRG-655-1 is configured to provide Internet Access and DHCP services under its default configuration. The IP range used is 192.168.70.0/24.
  1. Navigate to Edge Dashboard at http://192.168.70.2/.
  2. Edge Dashboard will show an overview of the state of the IRG-655-1.
  3. Ensure that your "Primary Internet Connection" is active - shown via checkbox.
  4. Click On-Board - you will be re-directed to the Big Network Portal.

On-Board the Device

  • Sign in to https://portal.bignetwork.com with your credentials.
  • Select your organization; click Next.
  • Confirm your Device ID and PIN from the Label on your device; click On-Board
  • The device will transition to “Onboarding” then “Online” status.
  • If needed, the IRG-655-1 will prompt you to apply a software update.

  • Set your Device Location and Coordinates on the map; click Next.
  • Confirm your setting on the page; click Finish.

Next Steps: Configure your Big Network

With your device on-boarded, you can now use the Big Network Portal to apply configuration to your device. Browse through common configuration guides, below:
  1. Remote Access VPN
  2. Layer 2 Point to Point
  3. Multi-Site Layer 2 Cloud Networks
  4. Static IP Anywhere

Optional: Static WAN IP Instructions

If your WAN IP addresses are not provided via DHCP, you will need to connect a computer to the IRG-655-1 to configure static WAN IP addresses prior to on-boarding your device.
  • On initial config connect a computer via an Ethernet RJ-45 cable to ports #5-8 on the IRG-655-1.
  • Configure the computer to obtain addressing via DHCP.
  • Navigate to http://192.168.70.2/ (Review your DHCP’d lease for appropriate subnet; webserver at X.Y.X.2)
  • Find appropriate GigabitEthernet or TenGigabitEthernet interface for use; if the interface is connected with ethernet link, a “Link” checkmark will appear.
  • Click the Pen Icon to edit the interface.
  • Change IPv4 configuration from “Automatic” to “Static”
  • Fill in IPv4 Address, IPv4 Mask, IPv4 Gateway, Primary IPv4 DNS and Secondary IPv4 DNS.
  • Click “Save”
  • Wait for the device to move the “Connected to Management Network” state.
